This is National Back to Church Sunday. What are we being called back to? That is WHAT the CHURCH Is: gathering of wretched, lost sinners, who by the Love of God have been saved by grace. Now being made new – sanctified holy – to be like Jesus So that together we can be His Body (2 aspects) 1) We are connected in meaningful relationship 2) Jesus is our Head, which means Jesus gets to do what He wants to do, when and where He wants to do it -- through us, by the power of the Holy Spirit in this lost, broken world – until His Kingdom comes in its fullness. That is WHAT the Church Is.

This summer we have been emphasizing Prayer for our Neighbors. If you have a street you choose to pray for, we are encouraging folks to walk or drive their street and pray for each household along their path. If you have not chosen a street and want to participate, get a street name in the foyer near the Coffee Center. There will be a project available for those unable to drive/walk their street to pray. Temptation - In the Bible the word temptation primarily denotes a trial or test in which humans have a free choice of being faithful or unfaithful to God. Temptation in the biblical sense is a situation in which one experiences a challenge to choose between fidelity or infidelity to God. Temptation becomes sin when we begin to set up our own path to fulfillment. Temptation can lead us to doubt Godís wisdom and goodness, then set up our own terms for what is wise and good for us. Temptation, or testing is something that the Bible says the believer will experience. Godís purpose is to bring out the best in us while the enemyís purpose is to lead us astray and to destroy us. The tempter's goal is to displace us out of the will of God and His presence.
